April 30, 2010: Hearthstone Homes Earns Award For Protecting The Environment Through Energy Efficiency
Omaha, NE, 3-18-10 – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has named HearthStone Homes as a 2010 Excellence in ENERGY STAR Promotion Award winner for its outstanding contributions to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by educating new home buyers about the value of choosing an ENERGY STAR qualified home.
HearthStone Homes’ accomplishments was recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. on March 18, 2010. HearthStone Homes, an ENERGY STAR partner since 2008, was honored for their work building homes that meet ENERGY STAR guidelines and communicating to customers about the features and benefits of these homes.
At HearthStone Homes we build every home ENERGY STAR qualified. We have implemented several changes in our homes to reach the ENERGY STAR qualification and beyond. All of our exterior framed walls are constructed with 2 x 6 construction and include R-23 blown in insulation. We utilize efficient heating and cooling systems, energy efficient windows and tight construction and ducts.
Last year alone, Americans with the help of ENERGY STAR saved $17 billion on their energy bills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 30 million vehicles.

The Excellence in ENERGY STAR Promotion Award is given to a variety of organizations to recognize their efforts to improve energy efficiency and reduce pollution, resulting in significant cost savings. Award winners are selected from more than 17,000 organizations that participate in the ENERGY STAR program.
